PUDGE AND THE BULLY

Pudge didn’t want to fight.  The other boy was bigger than he was, and besides, if his dad found out he had been fighting he
would get a whipping.  Anyway, Pudge was already sorry he had called the other boy a name and had told him so.  But it looked
as if Pudge had no choice as the bully was standing right in front of him making threatening gestures.

One thing Pudge could do was run.  If he could outrun the big brute he would escape a severe beating.  Without further
hesitation Pudge took off, running as he had never run before.  It soon became apparent that Pudge had made the right choice,
his adversary was too heavy to run well and couldn’t keep up with the fleet-footed Pudge.

After a short distance the bigger boy stopped, waved his fist at Pudge and cried, “Wait ‘til next time I see you.”
