While waiting for the air to clear
The clouds above me were aflame
I saw the rainbow reappear.

Its beauty seemed to be so near
To capture it would be my aim
While waiting for the air to clear.

I watched the lightning persevere
And thunder from the hills proclaim
I saw the rainbow reappear.

I heard the booming in my ear
The lightning bolts all seemed the same
While waiting for the air to clear.

I had no wish to tarry here
To see the sun in black-edged flame
I saw the rainbow reappear.

The vision made me want to cheer
Speak to the world in loud acclaim.
While waiting for the air to clear
I saw the rainbow reappear.
