What did you do with your children today
to earn the title of “Dad?”
Did you walk with them or talk with them
and make them feel so glad
That you are their one and only Dad
and are here at their beck and call?
Did you play with them and pray with them
or did you do nothing at all?
For the title of Dad is a special one
and not to be taken in vain
It’s given to those who earn it
and includes all the joy and the pain
Of raising a child with a loving heart
          and arms that open wide
So you can wear the title with dignity,
          humility, honor, and pride.
