We were awakened by the horrible sound
Of a bell going off in our head.
We knew it wasn’t time to get up
We’d just got into bed.
We hurriedly pulled on outer clothes
On top of our BVDs,
Plodded down and out the door
Very quickly, if you please.
It was only a false alarm we were told
But it rang for a hellish time.
They couldn’t shut the damn thing off
The clanging besotted our mind.
Before we managed to return to sleep
When they finally turned off the alarm
We blurringly made the decision
“This hotel has lost much of its charm.”
