Things were hot in the poker game
With Goody, and Howard and Jim
Then Fred showed up and asked for the cards
And you don’t fool around with him.
He dealt out the cards for seven card low
And gave each two cards in the hole
He followed this with a face card up
That made Goody and Howard fold.
The game came down to Fred and Jim
And the battle had just begun
For neither gave in as they raised and raised
Till the contest they had won.
When they finally reached the last down card
They both were almost broke
For winning the hand meant more to them
Than playing a game should evoke.
They turned their cards over when all bets were down
And both let out a sigh
And then they laughed till they thought they would burst
For the game ended in a tie.
