She gives you a long and mournful look
And accompanies it with a few sighs.
How can you refuse whatever she wants
When there is so much love in her eyes?
You have to be pals for quite a spell
To know what she means by that look.
It’s something a person who doesn’t know dogs
Won’t find explained in a book.
It could be she wants to go for a run
Or down to the lake for a swim.
Whatever she wants she’s sure to get
The look will make you give in.
She may be only a dog to some
But she’s much more than that to you,
As she sits by your side and licks your hand
And loves you whatever you do.
THAT LOOK
