It’s the silence and solitude that draws me back
To hiking my favorite mountain track.
The silence that solitude alone can bring
Where I survey the world as if I were its king.
The feeling of solitude will soon elevate
My free spirited soul to a rapturous state.
The silence will urge me to break out in song
But to shatter the silence I’ll know would be wrong.
For silence is golden, or so it is said
And the song becomes a whistle instead.
For peace and serenity my steps always stray
Where silence and solitude are norm for the day.
