Show Time

In watching old movies or shows on TV
Scenes will be viewed which you will agree
Are tableaus you’ve seen time after time
Scenes to show action or escape from a crime.
They might show a caveman in his Cro-Magnon ways
Or Ben Hur in his chariot, or knights on crusade.
In later times robbers would hold up a train
Or a stagecoach be threatened as it crosses the plains.
Light comedy prevailed in Keystone cop melodramas
But the scene was the same in James Bond panoramas.
And now in Star Wars the same theme is addressed
What will come next is anybody’s guess.
All of these scenes that are so commonplace
Are variations on one theme, the classical chase.
