This is the story of Peter the Peacock
Who strutted so proudly to show off his tail.
His arrogance cost him the love of the barnyard
Love which was offered but to no avail.
Until late one night a cowardly sneak thief
Stole into the barnyard and cut off his pride.
Poor Peter was shattered by this act of outrage
His dignity shorn, he was empty inside.
Then all of his friends that he’d snubbed in the barnyard
Gathered around him to show that they cared.
This showing of love so overwhelmed Peter
The internal wounds were quickly repaired.
This is a story that has a good ending
For Peter has learned a good lesson from strife.
And now that he’s older and somewhat the wiser
Love will sustain him the rest of his life.
