A person doesn’t know me who merely hears me talk
Or reads a line I’ve written, or goes with me for a walk.
One has to read my poetry to know where I have been
To understand my nature and to really tune me in.
For it’s only in my poems that I truly show myself
My feelings and emotions are no longer on the shelf.
The stanzas of my poems will show the tenderness of love
And marvel at the beauty of the stars and sky above.
They’ll rhapsodize with passion of a sparkling mountain stream
Or externalize my deepest thoughts as though they were a dream.
They’ll show my inner feelings toward the adventure life is made of
How there’s much pleasure to be had and none to be afraid of.
Read my poems, ponder them, then you can say you know me
And in return the pleasure of your friendship you will show me.
