As we look around at “older folks”
There’s something we soon find.
Not only is their body feeble
They have frailty of mind.

Things we take for granted
And accept without a fuss
Older folks will question
“What’s that have to do with us?”

Their mind is closed to new ideas
As if it had a door.
Perhaps it’s too full of “important” things
And there’s no room for more.

As we look and watch these older folks
And the way they haw and hem
There’s one important question for us,
“Aren’t we glad we’re not them?”
