My pet is a little green frog
Less care than a mangy old dog.
I pamper and pet him
And then I forget him
You can never do that with a dog.
His meal is a buzzy-buzz fly
Which he eats as it tries to fly by.
He rolls out his tongue
The fly is undone
And a twinkle comes into his eye.
His house is a pool in my yard
Where he sits on a log like a guard.
At times he jumps in
For a cooling off swim
And that is his only reward.
If you want a nice pet
You can go off and forget,
A little green frog
That sits on a log
Would be the best pet you can get
ODE TO A FROG
