We had draftsmen, surveyors, and water pipe layers
And divers of backhoes and trucks.
Some keen tractor drivers were early arrivers
Whenever a dump truck got stuck.

There were map and sign makers and good cookie bakers
And those who pulled cables and wires.
We had shaders and graders and shed fabricators
While others changed spark plugs and tires.

And don’t forget ladies, both bag ones and shadies
Who worked hard alongside the men.
They drove cookie wagons to those who were draggin’
And helped them start working again.

So think of those workers who never were shirkers
Whenever you look ‘round the park.
They enjoyed volunteering and did their own cheering
To them all the work was a lark.
